. I NO. 6 BREEDER'S ASSOCIA TION TyE FORMED There will be a meeting at the Court House in Sylva, next Monday, for the purpose of forming a Jack son County Shoft . Horn Breeders' Association., The meeting will be r.n interesting one and, it is expect ed that there will be a large at tendance from the farmers a n d live stock raisers of the county. All owners of short horn cattle, and all who are interested in introducing pure bred cattle in this county are urged to be present: .V'.' In order to become a member of the association when it is formed it is not necessary to be an owner of short horn stock. The. only pr requisite : is that t h e prospective member be interested -in breeding and raising pure bred cattle. That includes everybody in J a c kson County. You are are- urged to come. COCHRAN-ZACBARY v; 1 A wedding of wide interest was that of Miss Lucy Zachary, of Sylva, N. C, to Mr. 'J. Robert Cochran, of Abbeville, S. G, which took 'place July 16, on top of Sunset mountain. The weddiri party -motored from Waynesville to Asheville, then in the afternoon on to .Sunset. . Just as the sun was falling behind the distant hilltops the impressive ring ceremony was performed, by Dr. E. K. McLarty, pastor ?:of. He Central M. E. Chureh, South, of Asheville, in the presence of a few immediate relatives and friends of the bride and groom. The bride was never more beauti ful, in a handsome gown of beaded white. duchess satin. The maid of honor, Miss Jessie Zachary, a sister of the bride, wore a blue georgette crepe. Acting as best man was Mr. Henry G. Chatten, of Atlanta, Ga. Accompanying were Miss Janie Coward, of Sylva, Miss Lillian Green, of Waynesville, Miss Qixie Coward, of Webster, Dr. L. J. -Hooper, of Asheville, and Mr. 0. D. Biddy, ot Htndersonville. Mr. and Mrs. Cochran will make their future home in Atlanta. BIG RATTLER KILLED ON SrtVANNAD W. T. Crisp, who lives on Savan nah, was in town yesterday. Mr. Crisp has been in bad health for the past several months, but is now much improved. He tells us that he killed a rattlesnake last week I which was the largest one he ever ; saw Mr. Crisp says he is the same age as Jackson County, having been born the same year the county was : cut off from Haywood 1852. Mrs. Holmes Bryson has returned to her home in Asheville. after a visit to her parents, Mr." and Mrs. Walter E. Moore, at Webster. A party of . young people, chap eroned by Mr. and Mrs. T. J. I enlisted in the 1st Co., C. A. C, N, C,N, G, in Nov, 1916, stationed at. Fort Caswell, N.C, Served as Pvt. Sgt., and Sgt. 1st class in the Signal Section, and successfully passed the examination for Master Signal Electrician, at the time of commis sion, the outbreak of the war in 1917: : ; t Commissioned as 1st Lt U.S.N.G. 'John Wilson received a telegram Wednesday night from his sister, Mrs. Zachary, who lives in the State of Washington, stating; that her son, Frank Beach, was dead. The telegram gave no particulars of the death. The young man has a arge family "connection in this county, being a ephew of John R, Ernest and Thomas Wilson, and Mesdames J. W. JCeener and D. D. Hooper, of Sylva. - STOCKHOLDERS WILL GET 55 PES CENT Holders of Asheville Milling cor poration stock, living in the Mills River and Hooper's .Creek sections? are to receive fifty-live cents on the dollar for all corporation stock they own, bucn was the agreement reached last night in a conference in which W. A. Smith, of Hender- sonville, was present to represent stockholders of Henderson county who claim the milling, corporation -used fraudulent methods in the sale of this stock, alleging the insolven cy of the defendant. No receiver for the comoanv had been appointed, although the select ion of one had been asked in a pre liminary hearing, before Judge Fin ley in the Superior court.
